Welcome to Face the World. These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our website and the purchase and participation in our private Dutch language lessons. By accessing our site or booking a lesson, you agree to comply with these terms in full.
1. Services Provided
Face the World provides private, 1-on-1 online Dutch language tutoring sessions. All lessons are conducted virtually via Google Meet. We provide customized learning materials tailored to your specific language goals, which are included in the price of your lesson or package.
2. Bookings and Scheduling
- Booking System: All lesson slots, including the free trial lesson, must be scheduled through our official Koalendar system.
- Limitations: The Free Trial offer is strictly limited to one free lesson per person. Multiple, duplicate, or fraudulent bookings will be automatically declined.
- Accuracy: You are responsible for providing correct contact details (name and email) when scheduling to ensure you receive your Google Meet classroom links.
3. Payments and Pricing
- Upfront Payment Required: To secure your selected time slot, full payment is required immediately upon booking for all single lessons and multi-lesson packages (5, 10, or 20 lessons). Bookings without completed payments will not be honored.
- Package Promotions: Promotional package rates (such as “Pay for 9” or “Pay for 17”) are only applicable when the package is purchased in full upfront.
4. Cancellation, Rescheduling, and Expiration
By purchasing a service, you explicitly agree to our Cancellation & Refund Policy:
- The 24-Hour Rule: You may cancel or reschedule a scheduled lesson free of charge up to 24 hours before the start time.
- Late Cancellations & Missed Lessons: Lessons canceled, missed, or changed less than 24 hours in advance cannot be refunded. However, the session will be automatically rescheduled to a new available date.
- Package Expiration Periods:
- 5-Lesson Packages expire 2 months from the date of purchase.
- 10-Lesson Packages expire 4 months from the date of purchase.
- 20-Lesson Packages expire 7 months from the date of purchase.
- 5-Lesson Packages expire 2 months from the date of purchase.
- Non-Refundable: Unused lessons after their respective expiration periods are non-refundable. We do not offer partial refunds for any packages once the first lesson has commenced.
5. Code of Conduct
We maintain a professional, respectful, and patient learning environment. We reserve the right to terminate a lesson immediately or refuse service to any student who displays abusive, disrespectful, or inappropriate behavior. In such cases, no refunds will be issued for remaining slots.
6. Limitation of Liability
While we strive to provide the highest quality of language coaching, language acquisition depends heavily on individual student effort and practice. Face the World does not guarantee specific exam results or fluency timelines. We are not liable for technical interruptions caused by the student’s internet connection or hardware issues during a scheduled lesson time.
7. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable consumer laws. Any disputes relating to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent local courts.

9. Reduced Rates for Specific Regions (Low-Income Tiers)
a. Eligibility & Income Threshold:
Face the World offers reduced rates and lesson packages exclusively for original local inhabitants who officially reside and work within the local economy of selected countries (specifically Albania, Cyprus, Greece, Spain, Italy, Palestine, and Portugal). To qualify, the applicant’s total personal income must not exceed a maximum of €1,100 net per month.
b. Exclusion of Expats:
This reduced rate is strictly intended to support local populations based on domestic economic standards. Expatriates (expats), foreign nationals, or individuals employed by international companies/foreign entities living within these countries are strictly excluded from this offer, regardless of their current country of residence, as their earning potential operates outside the local baseline.
c. Verification Requirements:
To qualify for this reduced rate, the student is required to provide official proof of identity, residency, and income prior to booking. This proof consists of:
- A valid copy of a local passport or national ID card to verify identity and citizenship/original status.
- A recent rental agreement or utility bill (not older than 3 months) proving the student actually resides in the respective country. The name on the proof of residency must match the name on the ID exactly.
- Official proof of income (such as a recent payslip, tax assessment, or official income statement from the past 3 months) verifying that the net monthly income is at or below €1,100.
d. Approval and Validity:
The discount will only be applied after written approval by Face the World. This approval is strictly personal and is valid for a maximum of one (1) year from the date of issuance.
e. Annual Re-evaluation:
To maintain the reduced rate after this one-year period, the student must submit fresh, updated proof of residency and income (not older than 3 months) at least 30 days before the expiration date. If no proof or incomplete proof is provided, the discount expires automatically, and standard (High-Income) rates will apply.
f. Fraud and Misuse:
If it is found that incorrect, forged, or fraudulent documents have been submitted, or if the student relocates to a country outside the selected regions or exceeds the income threshold without immediate notification, [Your Business Name] reserves the right to terminate access to the lessons immediately. Already paid tuition fees will not be refunded in this case.
10. Student Referral Program
a. Referral Reward Eligibility:
Active students who remain enrolled in lessons can earn referral rewards. To qualify for a reward, the referred individual must be a new student and must purchase a lesson package consisting of a minimum of five (5) lessons.
b. Referring Student Reward:
Upon verification of the new student’s eligible package purchase, the referring student will receive one (1) additional free lesson. This is an extra lesson added to their balance and cannot be used to replace or reduce the cost of an already purchased or scheduled package. Referral lessons cannot be saved up or accumulated to be used en masse, and they hold no cash value. They cannot be used as payment for other services or packages.
c. Referred Student Reward:
The newly referred student will receive twenty-five (25) bonus minutes of instruction.
d. Scheduling of Bonus Minutes:
The 25 bonus minutes are subject to calendar availability. They may be scheduled to run consecutively immediately before or after a standard booked lesson, or they can be scheduled independently as a separate short session.
